The iCane





Design Brief - iCane

What:
The iCane is a new revised walking cane for the 21st century. Equipped with a built-in iPod touch, a GPS, two headphone jacks, 2 USB ports, cellular service, speakerphone, a laser pointer, a flashlight, bluetooth, thermometer, and a heartrate monitor. For additional charges, it can include an adapter which will make it a portable wifi hotspot, and it can have a shoulderstrap.

Who:
This product is designed for teenagers and young adults. The goal is to provide an all-in-one service product that will satisfy the needs of the average individual in school, work, or in their daily lives. Additionally, with it's sturdy spine, it can be exceptionally useful for people who may have a twisted ankle or a messed up leg. They can use the can to help them walk, and look stylish doing it.

Why:
This product is designed for a large portion of the U.S. population. The cane is stylish, interesting, and can convey an aura of superiority by the person holding it. It would be utilized in many ways by many people in many places.

How:
The iCane will be available in stores all over the country, as well as being available online. When they are available online, the buyer can customize it: such as what color they want it, if they want certain features or not, how much internal memory (64gb, 128gb, 256gb, 512bg) and make additional adjustments as well.

  1. This is such an outrageously cool idea!! I am definitely looking forward to seeing the whole design put together. How creative. I was laughing and smiling reading the whole design brief. You might want to think about the fact that this will touch the ground and possibly get wet and there are a lot of gadgets on it, maybe by keeping them higher up on the cane you can avoid any damage.   2. I was hoping someone would do the "I-something". Every Mac class should have some newfangled I-..... Lol. I agree with kathleen, that was one thing i noticed, the potential damage to hte gadgets could outweigh the potential benefit for customers. Itd be like buying an Iphone when there is the high possibility of the screen randomly cracking at a fingers touch. But overall, I really do like it.

  5. I really like this idea and how it all comes together. You may want to make this gadget as easy to use as possible because not many people want to take a lot of time to learn something new. It is a really cool idea, just make sure it is user friendly and you will be good to go.
